Public sector procurement still work in progress
Public sector procurement staff are struggling to carry out their role effectively, a new study by BravoSolution has found.
According to the company's study, only two-fifths of respondents (41 per cent) felt that their overall processes were very efficient, with many respondents citing "insufficient top management support" and "no formal budget", as the major factors hindering their progress.
Despite coming under increasing pressure to cut costs, the report revealed that the public sector is still suffering from poor spend visibility.
Nearly half of all respondents claimed that they "didn't know" if their sourcing strategy had delivered year-on-year savings.
The majority of those questioned agreed that e-sourcing reduced timescales of tendering (89 per cent), while 88 per cent agreed that e-sourcing provided better access to information for suppliers.
